Description
Kelo-cote® UV is the only 100% silicone scar treatment with SPF 30 UV protection ingredients — an advanced formula scar gel ideal for areas exposed to the sun. Recommended by dermatologists and plastic surgeons and used by the NHS, it helps treat, reduce, prevent and soften old and new scars while its built-in SPF 30 protects visible scars from sun exposure. UV exposure can cause immediate UV-induced inflammation and affect collagen metabolism during the wound-healing process, so scars should be protected from the sun throughout the maturation process (which can take anywhere from 6 months to 3 years). Silicone is the clinical gold-standard scar treatment, recommended by the International Advisory Panel on Scar Management as first-line therapy for linear hypertrophic scars, keloids and widespread burn hypertrophic scars.
