ZO Exfoliating Polish

ZO Exfoliating Polish is ZO's best-known exfoliator. Ultra-fine magnesium oxide crystals buff away dead surface cells for a smoother, more even-looking complexion, and stabilised vitamin C helps brighten. ZO advises starting two to three times a week and building up gradually; dry or sensitised skin may need less. It is also part of the GSR (Getting Skin Ready) step in ZO programmes. A separate Exfoliating Polish Activator is available for use with it.

ZO Exfoliating Cleanser

ZO Exfoliating Cleanser is a daily gel wash for normal to oily skin. Salicylic acid works inside the pores to clear excess oil, while jojoba beads gently polish. It suits people who want cleansing and light exfoliation in one step, especially if pores feel congested.

ZO Dual Action Scrub

ZO Dual Action Scrub combines lactic and salicylic acids with non-abrasive round wax beads to help decongest pores, and includes an antioxidant complex to help calm the look of redness. It is aimed at oily, breakout-prone skin.

Which one should you choose?

  • Dull, uneven texture, any skin type: Exfoliating Polish.
  • Oily or combination skin with congestion, want a daily cleanser: Exfoliating Cleanser.
  • Oily, breakout-prone skin wanting a scrub with acids: Dual Action Scrub.
  • Dry, sensitive or redness-prone skin: start gently and discuss with your consultant; you may need less frequent exfoliation.

Using ZO exfoliators with retinol and other actives

If you use retinol, avoid starting a new exfoliator at the same time. Introduce one product at a time, and if irritation appears, reduce how often you exfoliate. Our guide to explains how to space actives. Daily SPF is essential when you exfoliate regularly.

Do you need more than one?

Usually not. Most routines use one exfoliating step. Your consultant may suggest combining a cleanser with occasional polishing, depending on your skin. You can also look at ZO Complexion Renewal Pads, which use glycolic and salicylic acids.
